What to Expect at Your First Visit

Your first appointment is all about getting to know you and your smile. We’ll review your medical and dental history, talk about any concerns or goals you have, and perform a thorough exam of your teeth, gums, and bite. Most first visits include digital X-rays, an oral cancer screening, and a periodontal (gum) evaluation. Depending on your needs and our schedule, your professional cleaning may take place the same day or at a follow-up visit. Learn more about what’s included in a regular dental checkup.

Once we’ve completed your exam, we’ll explain our findings in plain language and walk you through all of your options – from preventive care like fillings and sealants to restorative and cosmetic treatments such as crowns and bridges, dental veneers, and clear aligners. You’ll never feel pressured; our goal is to help you make informed decisions about your oral health.

On Your First Visit, Please Bring the Following Information:

  • Any X-rays taken by a previous dentist. X-rays can also be forwarded to our office from your previous dentist upon your request.
  • A list of medications you are currently taking
  • Any current medical concerns or conditions
  • Your dental insurance card, if you are covered and paying through insurance
  • A photo ID
